The evolution and growth of the industry into Africa’s largest and finest is well documented. However, one sector of the industry is often overlooked as an unsung hero – videos!

The revolution in the industry began in the mid to late 90s with such classic and evergreen that changed the landscape of the universal language. Contributions of such veterans brought a new wave of youthful awareness and participation to the world of entertainment; albeit even more critically than folks from the days of old.

At the time, we got swayed and mesmerized by the likes of Daddy Shokey’s “Dyna,” Mad Melon and Mountain Black’s “Danfo Driver,” Africa China’s “Crises,” Paul Play Dairo’s “Angel Of My Life,” “Shako Mo” of Remedies, as well as “One & Only” of Plantashun Boiz just to mention a few.

While these hit the heights so unprecedented; they also had something in common and that is the accompanying videos that became a trend at the time. If it was not celebrating the dance steps such as “Galala,” it was about the promotion of a fashion style which would eventually become a part and parcel of the urban code.
