Nigerian Afro-Pop Queen Yemi Eberechi Alade popularly called Yemi Alade has proven a second time that she is the reigning queen of African music.
Indeed her accumulated YouTube numbers seem to concur and as they say, numbers don’t lie. With over 337million YouTube views, a record breaking hit video and single, Johnny, and recently a 1millionth subscriber mark on the streaming platform, Yemi Alade has set a pace other famous Nigerian/African artistes including Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, and Davido hope to someday achieve.
Recall back in July of 2018 when the Afro-pop singer was heavily criticized for being seen in an interview saying;
So there is no number one, and that is the truth but not everybody will agree to that, people will say ‘Yemi shut up’ but that is the truth. Why don’t we go ask the promoters, the people who know the NUMBERS.”
Yemi Alade has indirectly defied her own words by proving that there is indeed a number one, on YouTube at least. The singer could not help but share the god news on her social media page with the caption:
1st female Entertainer in #Africa to have over #1MILLIONsubscribers on @YouTube . God is the GREATEST, started this journey six years ago. Thanks to everyone streaming / watching my videos and music. Godbless us all.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank GOD
6years in the making …. #1MILLIONsubscribers + on @youtube ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
#WOMANOFSTEEL is coming
She followed the announcement up with a thank you message directed to her team members who have been with her though the storm.
Shoutout to my super amazing team ⭐
Thank you my FAMILY #1MILLIONsubscribers STRONG on @YouTube
The Nigerian singer who rose to fame after the release of the big crossover hit, Johnny, which currently sits atop a record breaking 100million views and counting is presently preparing for the release of her fourth studio album, ‘Woman of Steel’.
We do hope it’s fire, as always, even as we look forward to the other milestones she’ll hit in the nearest future, and other exciting collaborations.
