Scooter Braun‘s recent acquisition of Big Machine Label Group, the record label that owns Taylor Swift‘s music, has left the songstress aghast. It is her worst night mare, she said.
In a long Tumblr rant, Taylor Swift, 29, accused Scooter Braun of buying Big Machine Label Group deliberately so that he could control her, a woman who doesn’t want to be associated with him whatsoever.
She also accused Scooter Braun of being manipulative and a bully, writing “All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years.”
By her own admission, she learned of Scooter Braun‘s purchase of Big Machine Label Group, the company with the rights to her catalogue, as it was announced and began to make headlines.
According to her, she had made peace with the reality her work will eventually be put on sale, but with Scooter Braun, a man whose company she would repudiate publicly, doing the buying, she just isn’t having it. So she’s speaking out and making her misgivings known, citing examples when Scooter Braun had made fun of her in the past.
She said her experience should aid up-and-coming artistes to protect themselves in a negotiation
She is thankful, though, that Big Machine Label Group is in possession of her past and not her future. She is now signed to Universal Music Group, a company she praises for giving artistes the right to own their work.
By the way, Universal Music Group will release Taylor Swift‘s forthcoming album “Lover” soon.
