Kevin Gates is under investigation after a prison visit.
Black American Hip Hop act, Kevin Gates seemed to disappear from the scene after his release from prison last year. Formerly known for his active social media presence, the hip hop act seems to be maintaining a very low profile these days.
That’s about to change for him though in light of his recent stint on Instagram. The rapper on a visit to the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center in Louisiana shared a photo of himself with a wad of $100 bills. He was there visiting his uncle Lee Lucas and incarcerated rapper, Master P‘s brother, C-Murder.
The uploaded photo which has since been deleted showed him sitting on a bench at one of the prison’s tables with the incarcerated. The photo which also captured a wad of cash in his hand prompted the recent investigation.
Apparently, prison visitors are not allowed to enter with more than $300 as it is considered contraband.
Spokesman for the Louisiana Department of Corrections, Ken Pastorick, told The Advocate that prison visitors are not allowed to come in with more than $300 in cash to the prison. He said;
” As indicated in the photograph , it appears Mr. Gates had a large sum of cash, which is unacceptable, and a violation. It is against Elayn Hunt Correctional Center policy to bring cash exceeding $300 into the prison, and any amount above that is considered contraband. ”
He further explained that since Kevin Gates is on a visitation list for Lee Lucas, he signed off on the documentation. This means that he acknowledged that he understood the rules for visitors.

Investigations on the matter are ongoing and Kevin would probably face the repercussions if found guilty, although those repercussions haven’t been made clear.
