Burna Boy has spoken fondly about his forthcoming album “African Giant” for some time now. In fact, a listening party was said to have been held for a select audience in London earlier this year. Back then information about the album was sketchy.
Not anymore. Burna Boy, who’d hopped on the English singer Mahalia’s single “Simmer” earlier this month, has just announced the “African Giant” album will drop July 26. That’s a Friday, just when most peeps would be in the mood for a weekend soiree. The cover of the album is a rework of that used for his single “Anybody.”

Burna Boy made the announcement on Twitter, a platform where he had the least followers (1.5 million) compared to Instagram (3.3 million). As of this writing, the post, which has over 25k likes, is not on his Instagram page.
The title of the album “African Giant” references Burna Boy’s personal belief about his place in the universe of African music. He isn’t some poplar seeking air but an iroko towering in the universe. This perhaps explains why he felt slighted earlier this year to find his name in small print in the flier for Coachella 2019.
With July 26 give as release date, expectations have spiked and the countdown to the day has begun. In most likelihood, though, the album will drop – or be leaked – a day before the release date.
That’s one of the “crazy” traditions of the industry. But it’s okay. We await the album’s release and will serve it to you hot. Visit again.
