Jamell Maurice Demons. YNW Melly. The first is the given name and the other is the adopted stage name of the Florida rapper whose appearance on America’s rap scene was greeted with rapture by many.
A rapper of apparent gifts, YNW Melly captured the attention of many with his songs, including “Mixed Personalities,” featuring Kanye West, and “Murder on my Mind.” But his future now hangs in the balance as he’s standing trial for the murder of two of his friends.
YNW Melly is accused on murdering his two friends, but he insists he is innocent. He was in court Thursday July 11 for a hearing. YNW Melly maintained a serene visage and was even photographed smiling at some point.
He came to the court in his jumpsuit and shackles and smiled and laughed speaking to his attorneys. If he is bothered by his pending trial, he didn’t give that away at court
The “Mama Cry” rapper has maintained a positive spirit so far and is optimistic he will be discharged and acquitted soon. He was reported to have told friends and family that he’s “coming home.”
