The bloke behind the planned storming of Area 51 has come out to say the whole thing was a joke and should not be taken seriously.
Matty Roberts, in a video call with Nevada’s KLAS-TV, stated the planned storming of the place was nothing more than humour, a joke, but expressed surprise it had gone viral and become a monster.
“I posted it on like June 27th and it was kind of a joke,” he said.
Since he posted the call for the storming of the place, over 1.4 million people have signed up, with over a million others indicating interest. In fact, such was the appeal of the joke that even rapper Lil Nas X has made a flick of the storming.
This time, though, it is Lil Nas X and his rap buddies who are doing the storming, mounted on horses and, wait for it, a cobra.
Matty Roberts may have described the planned storming of Area 51 as a joke, but the government forces are still on high alert should the unwary decide to go ahead with the planned storming of Area 51.
Replying to enquiries from the Washington Post last week, Laura McAndrews, a spokesperson for the Air Force, commented that Area 51 is an open training range for the U.S. Air force and people are discouraged from going to the place.
With the plans for storming Area 51 having gone viral, the chances of some people still going ahead with the storming of the place are high indeed. It remains to be seen what happens on September 20.
If the unwary should decide to go ahead with the storming of the place and the Air Force opened fire on them, it would another headachy turn for Matty Roberts.
