Lil Wayne performed his own remix of Old Town Road on Saturday at Lollapalooza.
If you’ve ever wondered if Lil Wayne truly recorded a remix of the hit song, Old Town Road, he’s proven it to be true with a performance of the song during his set on Saturday. The American rapper went fully into cowboy mode for the song and gave a Tunechi version of the hit. Well, that wasn’t the first time he’s performed the song (which leaked earlier last week), he’s also performed it a couple of times on tour.
Wayne who is currently on a co-headlining tour with Blink-182 made an impressive stop at the Chicago festival on Saturday (Aug. 3). During his set, the American rapper performed some of his old and new hits to the audience with a stunning delivery of Road‘s remix. With country friendly lyrics like, “She got that honky-tonk, I met her on Farmers Only“, the rapper’s own version of the song thrilled the crowd. Lil Nas X must have had his mind blown already.
Wayne also performed A Milli, 6 Foot 7 Foot and Uproar. Earlier last week, a snippet of the song was leaked online but the full version hasn’t been released yet. Wayne told XXL, “They sent it to me and I did it as an official remix. I’m not sure if they was gonna use it.”
Old Town Road broke the long standing record for the most weeks at number one for a song. It became the longest running No 1 song beating out, Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men‘s One Sweet Day and Luis Fonsi’s Despacito ft. Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber.
