American rapper and music video director, A$AP Rocky said he was “disappointed” after he was found guilty of assault for an altercation that took place in Stockholm in late June.
The 30-year-old Harlem native and the two co-accused were found guilty of assault by a Swedish four-judge panel on Wednesday.
A$AP, who had his concert in California last weekend, asked his fans to pray for him because he does not want to be convicted and face more jail time across the pond. Meanwhile, a judge handed down a suspended sentence, which means he will not have to do more time behind bars or serve any more time.
In a statement issued on his Instagram page, the rapper stated that he is “disappointed” with the judge’s decision, but plans to put this situation behind him.
“I am of course disappointed by today’s verdict. I want to say thanks again to all of my fans, friends and everyone who showed me love during this difficult time. Imma keep moving forward. Thank you to my team, my management, attorneys, label and everyone who advocated for justice.” – he wrote.

In spite of the guilty verdict, no fines or community service were levied on Rocky and his two co-defendants, Bladimir Corniel and David Rispers. However, they will have to pay approximately $22,300 in restitution and legal fees to the 19-year-old alleged victim, Mustafa Jafari, and “expenses and public legal counsels” to the state. The amount is a combined sum to be paid by all three defendants in total.
