The newly updated Billboard 200 chart shows that three recently released albums have debuted in the top 3 spots of the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. Two of these albums are from hip hop artists, Rick Ross, and Trippie Redd.
Rick Ross‘s Port of Miami 2 debuts at number 2 on the chart after being blocked off the top spot by Slipknot‘s We Are Not Your Kind album. We Are Not Your Kind debuts on the top stop of the Billboard 200 with 118,000 equivalent album units earned, 102,000 of which were in album sales. Released the same day as Rick Ross‘s Port of Miami 2, on Aug. 9, the album is the first hard rock album to hit the top spot, (and also the largest week) since Foo Fighters‘ Concrete and Gold hit number 1 in 2017.
Rozay‘s Port of Miami debuts at number 2 with 80,000 equivalent album units, 25,000 of which were in album sales. The new album is the most streamed album of the week with 67.5 million on-demand streams translating to 53,000 SEA units. Port of Miami 2 becomes Rick Ross‘ highest charting album since his 2014 number one, Mastermind.
Debuting at number 3 is Trippie Redd’s new album. !. The new album debuts with 51,000 equivalent album units earned, 7,000 of which were in pure album sales. The new album is his second to debut at number 3 after A Love Letter To You 3 in 2018.
From numbers 4 to 10 are previously released albums, including Billie Eilish‘s When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go (4), Ed Sheeran‘s No.6 Collaborations Project (5), Chris Brown’s Indigo (6). Lizzo‘s Cuz I Love You (7), Drake‘s Care Package falls (1-8), Khalid’s Free Spirit (9), and Lil Nas X‘s 7 rises (11-10).
