As a child, Nipsey Hussle was a beneficiary of things like that. When his mother discovered that his love for rap was real, she took him to join one of such centers and it was there that he honed his skills.
Speaking about it, music executive, Steve Carless said: “[Nipsey] was very adamant about being purposeful and intentional and giving back and doing that right where he came from. For us, it’s an honor to know we are going to be able to carry that vision on in the future, and we want to make sure it has the fortitude that he had. We’re really excited about it, and this is just the first step.”
One of the top donors are Atlantic Records and the representatives from the company have already made a 6-figure donation and said: “Nipsey will be forever missed, but his courageous, generous spirit lives on in his incredible music and the impact he made on the community. Nip’s love for the generation coming up behind him is a big part of what’s inspiring this foundation, and we’re proud to celebrate his life by supporting his legacy.”
Other donors to the foundation include Puma with whom Nipsey was working on a collaborative project with his Marathon Clothing brand and more donations are pouring in.
One thing is certain, systems like the one being started now helped shape Nipsey Hussle and his career and with the creation now, his family are hoping even in death, he can inspire more people and help raise them right.
