It’s hard to believe but it’s already been one year since Machine Gun Kelly released the highly acclaimed Eminem diss track, Rap Devil. The American rapper recently took to his Instagram to celebrate. The rapper shared a yearbook photo of a girl named Savannah Frank with the words “Rap Devil was better” written underneath it.
MGK shared the photo with the caption, “it’s the ‘Rap Devil’ one year anniversary today…tell it happy birthday”. After Rap Devil dropped, many praised MGK for standing up to Eminem saying the rapper had met his match. Rap Devil was also called the best Eminem diss song ever. Eminem‘s long time supporter and friend Obie Trice also said it was the best he’d heard.
In an interview on the Everyday Struggle podcast, MGK spoke about making Rap Devil as a reply to Eminem‘s Not Alike, he said;
“I just did that on the spot, hours after that shit released,” he said. “Like, fuck this motherfucker! Load the protools up. We loaded a picture of him and just rode the motherfucker.
I did three verses, I called Cordae, played him the first three verses. He was like, ‘This Em, man, you gotta go off’. I was like, ‘I just went off!’ He was like, ‘Nah, just finish him!’ I put that fourth verse, and that fourth verse was the mean shit.”
After Eminem replied with Killshot, MGK told The Breakfast Club,
“I actually had a clip ready, I heard Killshot and I put that shit back in the holster”
