Nicki Minaj announces retirement from music with rhymed farewell on Twitter.
American rapper, Nicki Minaj, shocked fans yesterday when she announced that she was stepping off the music scene to focus on building a family. Shocking right? Everyone who saw it was shaken to the core. Trust Nicki to announce her retirement in style, she tweeted the message in rhymes. Nicki wrote;
“I’ve decided to retire & have a family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep repping ms, do it til da death of me, in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE”
Funny enough, Nicki seems to be calling out her haters while also stating that she would be retiring to start a family. The rapper has over time garnered a lot of enemies in the industry, especially with females who claim that she continues to sabotage them. With the tweet, Nicki obviously says she’s left the building for them to have to themselves.
Known for her hits and chart toppers, Nicki‘s new music hasn’t been so successful. The rapper’s last released solo single, Megatron fell off the charts as quickly as it debuted on it, with many calling it bland. Her recent feature on Megan Thee Stallion’s Hot Girl Summer has been making quite a buzz since its release. A new video was recently released for it.
According to unconfirmed rumors, Nicki and boyfriend Kenneth Petty have already tied the knot after the couple recently acquired a marriage license.
Nicki’s retirement announcement also comes after she told fans she was in the studio recording her fifth “thing thing” (album). Seems that wouldn’t be coming out anytime soon. Although, some claim the rapper could be taking a breather, after which she would make a majestic return. We hope so too, for all our sakes.
This year, Nicki Minaj became the first female rapper to officially sell 100 million units across her albums, singles and features. This makes her the best selling female rapper of all time.
