J. Cole announces he’s done doing features.
We all loved hearing J. Cole on a bunch of features since last year till this one. The rapper who in the past never really appeared on songs by other artists seemed to have turned a new leaf. Now, he’s saying he’s done with that. That’s quite sad because we loved hearing him on all the song’s he’s appeared on, which were all hits.
The rapper appeared on joints by artists including Ty Dolla $ign, Offset, 21 Savage, Rapsody, Young Thug, Moneybagg Yo, 6LACK, and most recently the new song by Gang Starr. The rapper’s last released project from his Dreamville label also featured a ton of artists.
Cole recently took to Twitter to announce that he’s not doing features anymore saying the new Gang Starr song, Family & Loyalty was his last. He wrote;
“THIS IS A HONOR TO BE ON THIS SONG. NEW GANG STARR. THIS IS THE LAST FEATURE YOU’LL HEAR FROM ME. THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY I GOT TO WORK WITH DURING THIS RUN. @REALDJPREMIER THIS SONG A CLASSIC, THANK YOU. RIP GURU.”
Earlier this year, the rapper spoke about his decision to work with other artists in an interview with GQ. He said
“I’ve reached a point in my life, where I’m like, ‘How long am I gonna be doing this for? I’m starting to realize like, oh shit–let’s say I stopped this year. I would feel like I missed out on certain experiences, you know? Working with certain artists, being more collaborative, making more friends out of peers, making certain memories that I feel like if I don’t, I’m gonna regret it one day.”
