What’s better than a great blend of beautifully crafted sounds, a catchy hook and great bars to wake a dead mummy? While you try to answer that let us tell you a bit about this great track.

Debuting on the Coke Studio Africa stage, “Tonight” is a collective project from Nigerian music sensation, Rudeboy (the one-half of now defunct duo P-square) and Kenyan rap god, Kaligraph Jones.

In our humble opinion, the song, Tonight, is everything. From the instrumentals, to the vocals, and also the bars, the song is indeed a 10 out of 10. Tonight is reminiscent of songs like Wizkid’s ‘Ojuelegba’ and Timaya’s ‘Sanko’ and yet stands tall with its concurrent bass vibe that we wished could play till kingdom come.

The instrumentals on the song sets a high bar in an era of ubiquitous dance hall jams and at some point, successfully resurrects Fela into this present age.

Rudeboy who after a highly publicized breakup with his twin brother and music partner started his own music, has churned out quite a number of unarguably beautiful music including ‘Reason with Me’. On Tonight, he shares the stage with new dad and highly acclaimed Kenyan rapper Kaligraph Jones whose lyrical reputation speaks tons.

Both Rudeboy and Kaligraph Jones have slowly yet successfully created niches for themselves as solo artistes and rapper. Jones has been compared to Nigerian rapper, M.I Abaga and American rapper, Twista. This is indeed a pairing made in musical heaven. Do tell us what you love about this song in the comment section.
