The Scorpion Kings are pretty much around. DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small, who I have taken the liberty to call Scorpion Kings, in reference to their extended play of the same title, have just released the music video of their single “Koko.”
The single “Koko” finds a spot in their aforementioned EP. It may readily be tapped as one of the most engrossing numbers in the EP itself, so releasing the music video of the song seems a fine idea, and one that should extend the lifespan of the track – you may say the conscious remembrance of both artistes by the fans.
Both are standout figures in South African music, and their musical interests intersect. It is in the gqom genre, though, that Kabza De Small has particularly distinguished himself. His style is unique and has already become familiar to the public such that other artistes who try to cop him are pointed out at once. Major League have been the “victims” of this pointing out.
DJ Maphorisa, on the other hand, is your gqom savant – the master hitmaker whose songs artistes like Beyonce and Jay Z have been caught bopping to. The “Gqom Wave” maker reignites his artistic chemistry with Kabda De Small in this music video that should keep you entertained even into the weekend.
DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small have only days back made a fine showing on Hume Da Muzika‘s “Winter Days.” They continue their great showing, assisted by the versatile Mhaw Keys, in the music video of “Koko,” which is one of undeniable beauty.
