Senegalese American singer, Akon drops new song, Wakanda influenced by the critically acclaimed black super hero movie, Black Panther. Before the release of Akon‘s new songs, the Senegalese music god, stepped off the scene for reasons best known to him. The chart topper had an enviable career and a line up of hit songs to his name, yet he chose to move aside from all that.
Now with a new project in the works, (El Negreeto) the African bad man, is out with a second single heavily influenced by Afro pop tunes. The new track, Wakanda follows his first single, Get Money which features Puerto Rican singer / rapper Anuel AA.
Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam, aka Akon is a Senegalese-American singer, songwriter, and record producer born in St. Louis, Missouri. He rose to prominent with the release of his first single, Locked up from his debut album, Trouble.
Having founded two successful record labels and credited for the success of many artists including, Lady Gaga, R City and T-Pain, Akon has known all round success. Akon has released huge hits and successful albums, including Ghetto, and Lonely, and also collaborated with big artists worldwide.
After a long hiatus from music and a few unsuccessful singles, the singer is out with this new one, Wakanda. Wakanda is a sexually explicit song which sees the rapper talking about a white woman’s advances towards him for being African.
The movie, Black Panther only influences the song’s title and the singer’s roots but does not influence the theme of the song. Wakanda thrives on it’s afro pop production which is quite popular in the African continent. Akon drops Wakanda in anticipation for the release of his new album, El Negreeto after 11 years of his last record.
