Beyonce‘s “The Gift” album is getting massive attention currently and deservedly so. She pulled a huge commercial and creative stunt on this project.
She originally described the song as her love letter to Africa and boy, did she live up to that. The sheer number of African artistes that were featured on the song is testament to that. She had the likes of Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Shatta Wale, Moonchild Sanelly and co and the songs off of that album have been trending.
Away from the African features though, she did team up with her husband, Jay Z and rapper, Childish Gambino to make this particular song titled “Mood 4 Eva” and it’s all shades of awesome.
This song has a lot of African sounds too and the rap of Jay Z to it and Childish Gambino‘s entrance make it worth the while. Jay Z was epic on it too. He made fun of himself with regards to the jet ski meme and paid tribute to Nipsey Hussle on it as well.
His line “Without the God in the XY (Yeah, yeah)/I’m afraid the whole game would be colonized (Yeah, yeah)/The marathon will be televised for N.I.P./’Cause true kings don’t die, we multiply, peace” is one of the dope lines on the song and we’ll be listening to this one for long.
Jay Z is not the only family member featured on Beyonce‘s album though. Their daughter was featured on “Brown Skin Girl” alongside Wizkid and it was cool. Well, this is too and we recommend listening.
