Mike Posner’s new song’s title pays tribute to Eddie Murphy’s character, Prince Akeem in the 1988 classic Coming To America. Posner is currently still on his Walk Across America which has been documented on social media but still finds time to drop dope new music. The singer who’s known for creating hilarious tunes from instances in his life is out now with a new one after dropping ‘Look What I’ve Become‘ with Ty Dolla Sign last month.
The new song, Prince Akeem features weed ambassador, Wiz Khalifa whose recent music in 2019 has mostly been features. Wiz Khalifa‘s discography this year features a line up of assists including 2009 with Curren$y, Back Off with Don Toliver, FYM with Elohim, etc. Now, Mike Posner features the American rapper on his new song off the road, Prince Akeem.
The beat heavy song, just like the previous one with Ty Dollars Sign, sees the singer talk about his current life and how much he’s grown and become better. The Detroit native sings over an energy packed beat and his words are sort of inspiring to hear. Could walking across states really make one say profound things?
Prince Akeem is kind of about entitlements but not in the irritating way. Rather deserving entitlements. Wiz Khalifa completes the flow with his verse and also talks about how far he’s come since appearing on the scene. The video for the song surprisingly has no ties to the classic movie. It shows a hilarious Posner having this time of his life all on his own. Indeed a fun sight to see.
