Singer-songwriter, Taylor Swift has released ‘Lover’, the title track of her seventh studio album.
The new track, which is released as a lyric video on Swift‘s YouTube channel, is slower and emotional, and not as poppier as “You Need to Calm Down” and “ME!” which she released recently. The song is delivered in a breathless ballad, as a throwback to Swift’s country days, and will excite fans who love Swift’s storytelling concept.
Making multiple illusions to her “lover” in the song, and considering the presented timeframe in the lyrics, it’s obvious the track was inspired by her romance with Joe Alwyn, her real-life boyfriend. It is rumoured that she is celebrating her third anniversary with the actor this year.
“I’ve loved you three summers now, honey / But I want them all,” – Swift sings.
The new song ‘Lover’, which was produced by Jack Antonoff, who also worked on her song ‘The Archer’, is full with lyrics telling the story of relationships trials, tribulations and the perseverance of love.
The 29-year-old Grammy-winner sings in the second verse;
“We could let our friends crash in the living room/ This is our place, we make the call/ I’m highly suspicious that everyone who sees you wants you/ I’ve loved you three summers, now honey, I want ’em all,”
The song also gives an image of what the narrator’s life will be like with her lover over the years.
