Brooklyn natives Casanova and Fabolous have dropped the official video to their jam, So Brooklyn. Fabolous assists his fellow Brooklynite on the Jam which is an ode to their hometown. The new video is directed by Rock Davis and features cameos from Maino, Flipp Dinero, Papoose, Fetty Luciano and many more.
The video also showcases some of Brooklyn’s famous fixtures from NBA star, Lance Stephenson, the viral dancer, 2 Milly, boxer Zab Judah, etc. A Notorious B.I.G mural, a Brooklyn street sign and the Manhattan bridge also appear in the video. Just like the song, the video showcases Brooklyn, it’s beauty and its most famous spot (including Church Avenue, Conney Island and Retailer Vinnie’s), and the greats who originated from there.
Casanova dropped the Fabolous assisted track back in August after teasing it on social media. He teased it with the caption “I’m just representing for the borough though” which he very well did. The production of the song is entirely New York-y and reps the city. The background chant of “Brooklyn” is also undeniable in the tracks.
In the song, Casanova shouts out his record Label head, Jay-Z saying “I’m so Brooklyn / I had to sign with Jay / Yo, Hov, good looking”. Also in August, the song was promoted by the #SoBrooklynChallenge which helped boost its popularity. For the challenge, artists including Papoose and Maino dropped their best over the song’s instrumental.
According to Casanova, the purpose of the challenge was to “bring back real authentic rap, unite artist from Brooklyn, bring unity and bridge gaps between artists across the globe. It is also to provide a platform, uncover and expose talent of overlooked artists and entertainers.”
