It’s been almost a year now since Joyner Lucas announced his upcoming album. The album has been a no show but no one knows why. Just last month the rapper fired his longtime manager, Sha Money XL saying “he doesn’t work but wants to collect a check“. That’s likely to be the reason why the album has been delayed but we can only speculate.
Although Lucas gave a specific date or time for the album, it’s only fair to say that he’d planned on releasing it but unforseen issues held it back. The rapper has now dropped the title track from the album. A jam in which he raps and sings. ADHD follows 10 Bands featuring Timbaland which didn’t do so well. Hopefully, ADHD would go the extra mile.
Lucas‘ upcoming album is inspired by his diagnosis as a kid. He was said to be aggressive, hyperactive and impulsive hence the diagnosis. In a lengthy post, the rapper announced the album on Instagram last year. He wrote;
“When I was a kid I was diagnosed with ‘ADHD’.. they said I was aggressive, fidgety, hyperactive, impulsive, etc… they tried to put me on meds. Everyone around me including my own parents made me feel like I wasn’t normal. I had to constantly see a doctor who made me take tests and all that. They separated me from the regular kids in school and put me in these classes away from everyone,”
“Creating music was and always has been my only therapy. It’s the only way I ever knew how to express myself. I was tired of being cut off every time i spoke or had a opinion.. I figured if I made music then you would have no choice but to listen to me and hear me out. The kid with ‘ADHD’ did it. (ADHD project coming soon)…”
Hopefully, the project drops soon, cause we all can’t wait to hear it.
