It takes a whole lot to impress American diva, Mariah Carey. She’s obviously heard it all and seen it all. So, when she says she’s impressed, be rest assured she is. After all, she’s always been one to speak her mind at all times.
During Kanye‘s recently held Sunday Service show in Detroit last Friday, September 27, the rapper performed a gospel version of the diva’s classic, My All. The gospel rendition of the song was lauded by the singer who was so impressed by it, she took to Twitter to announce her joy. She wrote;
“This choir is killing this arrangement and song. I needed to speak to whoever put the arrangement together and rewrote the lyrics.. Beautiful. Thank you”. She shared the post with a heart emoji.
According to a report by Billboard, Ye‘s Sunday Service Collective composed of 150 singers and nine musicians. The choir was led by director, Jason White who conducted the ensemble as well as 2,000 local volunteers in the crowd. Reports state the volunteers were taught the arrangements during a two-day clinic and a morning rehearsal at the service venue.
The rapper announced that he would be making a few appearances in some cities to play his Jesus is King album. Detroit was the first city he hit to unveil the album’s tracks before jetting out to New York City. The rapper reportedly hosted a surprise event at Fox Theatre for the Jesus Is King: A Kanye West Experience event after the Sunday Service session. He premiered the album, and its documentary film.
