Wale is not kidding, yo! That he is talented has never been in question but this year, he has added consistency and it’s showing as he comes through with a nostalgic track titled “09 Folarin” and it takes a journey down memory lane.
It is three for three already as we race on towards a new project from Wale. He opened this can with “Daylight”, added “Gemini” last week and now returns with a new one titled “09 Folarin” that sees him remember the past when he was trying to find his feet and you’ve got to give it up for him: he’s got bars.
Wale has words for those who think he’s changed too. The bars on this new song come through as the one on some of his earlier works and as he rapped: “I chase profit, you say my name they change topics/So don’t start if you can’t back up like Blaine Gabbert”, it’s a subtle reminder with which he was saying: “I’m still in here”
It’s already been two years since “Wale” gifted us his “Shine” album and sometime last month, he announced that his new project was done and he was just out there playing and well, it’s been two songs since then and we are all waiting for that long overdue project.
The entire project is not out yet of course but if the “Daylight”, “Gemini” and this new “09 Folarin” trip down memory lane songs are an indication, we are in for some magic with the coming project and we recommend listening to this right now.
